Winter Garden isn’t one neighborhood, and it doesn’t have one kind of house. North of Colonial you’ve got the historic core around Plant Street, where some homes go back further than anyone alive remembers. Head south along Avalon Road and 429 and you’re in Horizon West, where whole villages went up in the last fifteen years. Two very different service calls.
That matters more than it sounds. An older kitchen off Plant Street often means a tight cabinet opening, a shallow cutout, and a replacement unit that doesn’t quite drop into the space the old one left behind. A Horizon West home usually means a matched appliance package installed the same week the family moved in, all of it now hitting the same age at the same time. Gas & Electric
Winter Garden is a natural gas city, and that puts it in a small club. Lake Apopka Natural Gas District is headquartered right here, and the city is one of its governing members. The city also adopted an energy choice ordinance, which is why so many newer builds came out of the ground with gas already run to the kitchen and the laundry room.
Most appliance companies in this market only work on electric. That’s fine until your gas range won’t light, or the gas water heater in the garage stops keeping up, and you’re calling around trying to find somebody who handles it. We service both.
Gas appliances fail differently than electric ones. Igniters weaken before they quit outright, so you’ll often get a longer click, then a longer one, then nothing. If your burner is taking noticeably longer to catch than it did last year, that’s the igniter telling you it’s on the way out. Catching it then is a much smaller job than catching it after.
Winter Garden runs its own water system. The City of Winter Garden Water Division draws from the Floridan Aquifer, which is limestone, and limestone means minerals. What you can’t see in a glass of water shows up eventually on a heating element.
Here’s how it usually turns up. Your dishwasher starts leaving a chalky film on glasses that used to come out clear. The ice from the door tastes fine but the cubes are smaller and cloudier than they were. The water heater takes longer to recover than it used to, and you hear a faint popping when it fires. None of those are the appliance failing. They’re mineral scale building on the parts that heat and move water.
Scale doesn’t break an appliance overnight. It makes it work harder, and working harder is what shortens its life.

Horizon West
Horizon West brought a different class of kitchen to this side of Orange County. Column refrigerators, integrated dishwashers with custom panels, wall ovens set into cabinetry, ranges that cost more than a used car. Those units are worth repairing well past the point where you’d replace a builder-grade machine, and they need somebody who won’t damage the cabinetry getting to them.
A built-in refrigerator isn’t a job you do by pulling the unit into the middle of the floor. It’s anchored, it’s panel-matched, and the surrounding cabinetry was built around it. Getting it out and back in without leaving a mark is a real part of the work, and it’s the part that separates a good service call from an expensive one.
